Buddies in ASK

Create a buddy, or a team of buddies.

A buddy is a personal AI assistant you create in plain words: a name and a job. It tells you how it understood the job, keeps one continuous conversation with you, and gets on with the routine, within the approvals you and your company set.

Max

Support buddy: drafts ticket replies from our help articles.

Nora

Finance buddy: checks refunds and expenses against our policies.

Iris

My morning buddy: prepares my day from mail, calendar and CRM.

What a buddy is

  • You create it in plain words: a name and a job, no code.
  • Before it runs, it tells you how it understood the job, so you can correct it.
  • One continuous conversation: pick up where you left off, any day.
  • It proposes notes to remember; you confirm what it keeps.
  • It works only for you, with your own access.

What a buddy can do

  • Runs on a scheduleEvery morning, every Friday, on the first day of the month: in your time zone.
  • Plans its own follow-ups"Check again in two hours": it sets the follow-up itself, and tells you if one can't run.
  • Starts when something happensA new e-mail, a ticket assigned to you, a changed CRM record, a new file or a message, in the tools you connected.
  • Only what you can openIt reads and searches with your own access, checked inside every search.
  • Changes wait for youDrafts and prepared changes in other systems wait for your approval, or run within your own pre-approvals and your company's rules; where your company switches it on, a buddy may work more on its own within an allow-list.
  • A daily summaryWhat it did, what waits for you and what it will do next, once a day.
  • Reaches you where you workIn the ASK inbox, as a browser notification where your company switches them on, and in direct messages in Slack, Teams, Google Chat, Discord, Telegram and WhatsApp.
  • Writes to colleagues, labelledThrough the company's bot, signed "(AI Max) for Anna Meier". Their replies come back to the buddy, and it posts in a team channel where your company allows it.

A team of buddies, working together

A buddy can hand work to another of your own buddies. Each works with its own job, tools and level. Chains are short and never loop.

  • Your buddies only: they act for you, never for anyone else.
  • With colleagues, a buddy writes to the person, labelled as your assistant, not to their buddies.
  • Every step is recorded; changes still wait for you.

Questions about Buddies

What is a buddy?

A personal AI assistant you create in ASK. You give it a name and a job in plain words; it tells you how it understood the job, then works on it in one continuous conversation with you.

Can a buddy change things in other systems?

It drafts and prepares changes, and they wait for your approval. Within your own pre-approvals and your company's rules it may make the exact changes you allowed, and some changes always ask, whatever is set.

Can my buddies work together?

Yes. A buddy can hand work to another of your own buddies, which works on it with its own job, tools and level. Chains are short and never loop.

Can a buddy talk to my colleagues' buddies?

No. Buddies are personal and act only for their owner. A buddy writes to colleagues themselves, labelled as your assistant, and their replies come back to it.

What can a buddy see?

Only what you can open in the connected systems, checked inside every search. Your company's admins can't read its job, notes or conversations.

When should we use a workflow instead?

A buddy is personal and ongoing: one person's assistant that keeps going. A workflow is a shared, multi-step process the team owns, with its own approval steps.
